Spider Woman Speaks Of The Seven Sacred Objects Of The Lakota/Dakota Sioux

In 1995 or thereabouts, Spider Woman and I had a series of seven conversations about the Seven Sacred Objects she was holding for each of Seven Tribes: HOPI, ARAPAHOE, COMANCHE, LAKOTA/DAKOTA SIOUX, OSAGE, CHEROKEE, OJIBWA/CHIPPEWA. In ten years of Moon Ceremonies I did with Spider Woman in attendance, she rarely said a word, but when she did, everyone listened closely. It was amazing for me to have these more intimate conversations with her. Later it became obvious that her messages are not just for the seven tribes mentioned, but for all tribes and all peoples of the world. As I reread and retyped the messages, getting them ready for my website, I realized how timely they are now. No wonder she'd been nudging me lately to get them out to a wider audience. Both Spider Woman and I hope you will find this series of service and an aid to the ascension of All That Is.

Spider Woman Speaks Of The Seven Sacred Objects Of The Lakota/Dakota Sioux

"Hi!" I greet Spider Woman as she sits in the now familiar place with the Hopi, Arapahoe, and Comanche lines of Sacred Objects to her right and the yet to be explained ones in front of her. "Which tribe are we doing this evening?"
"The Lakota Sioux," she responds, then picks up the first object from one of her remaining lines. She holds up an item that looks like a Small Sun. The main body of the Sun is about one inch in diameter and is bright yellow. Out of its main body is an irregular circle of rays that extend another two inches and completely encircle the inner Sun.
"This is the Sun but it is more than the Sun. It always IS. It is never dark, yet in its travels it seems to disappear or occasionally be covered by the Moon during an eclipse, so to those on the surface of Mother Earth, it seems to change. In what is considered the Past, the Sun has been worshiped, feared, considered essential to life, and an object of great misunderstanding — for the Sun is a coworker of Mother Earth. It is alive. It is conscious. It is helpful, because it wants to be helpful, and it is essential to the health of Mother Earth, therefore all upon and within her.
"It is a sacred symbol for the Lakota because it is necessary for them to remember this truth. Many of their Elders knew this at one time, but now have forgotten. They now take for granted many things that were once greatly appreciated and honored. It is time to remember to show honor and respect and gratitude to All That Is and that includes all that is."
Spider Woman places the Little Sun in a new line to her right, then picks another object from the Lakota line. She studies the item for a few moments then holds it up for me to see. It appears to be a shiny, Silver Writing Pen.
She responds to my thought. "It is a Pen. It is Silver because it reflects the Moon and feminine side of things. It is a Pen because at this time the Lakota need a better way to communicate with each other. It will also be a symbol to remind them to communicate with the All That Is... other races, other cultures, other beings.
"As with all of the sacred objects the tribes lost, there are perhaps one or two within each tribe who remember these things, but due to egos, lack of communication and ignorance of who might know these things, the wisdom has been all but lost.
"It is time to communicate once again. Pull away the veils that have been over Lakota eyes for decades and talk. First among yourselves, then with the beings of the fields, forests, villages and cities around you and finally with all others. Communicate as the wisest of your females communicate, with gentleness and an open heart and you will be very happy with the positive results."
Spider Woman places the Silver Pen next to the Little Sun and picks up the next object from the Lakota Sioux line. It appears to be a wooden item about six inches long. Finally she holds it up so I can see. It is a small Pipe.
"The Lakota/Dakota are not going to like what I have to say next." She sighs deeply, then continues. "The Pipe they honor is not the Pipe that White Buffalo Calf Woman gave them centuries ago. A few years after it was given to them a black magician, a Medicine Man within their tribe, was able to exchange the original for a copy. He left the tribe shortly after making the exchange and this is part of the reason that much that was to be remembered was forgotten. He cast a spell over the Keeper of the Pipe and others, so that they would not know the exchange had taken place."
"But no one will believe what you say," I challenge.
"A few will. Those who look into their hearts and acknowledge their knowing. They will know what I say is true. They know there are those who have misused even the copy. They have tried to take the power of White Buffalo Calf Woman's Pipe and use it for their own benefit. It has rarely been used for the good of the whole tribe, for ALL individuals. Instead it has been used mostly for a chosen few."
"But what are you suggesting that they do?"
"I am suggesting that they gather together the whole tribe and burn the old Pipe and create another Pipe... one that is created by the entire tribe and smoked and touched and enjoyed by every single member of the tribe, so that IT becomes a true symbol of Oneness for the Lakota. And, when this is done, upon occasion it will be appropriate to share with those outside of the Lakota/Dakota Tribe to symbolize Oneness with everyone and everything... All That Is.
"The tribe may even decide to send one of their most trusted young men out into the world with the Oneness Pipe so that it may be touched and experienced by even more people. That young man could bring back written stories of the magic of the Pipe and the influence it had on the many lives that were touched by it, then the tribe would be made even more aware of the power in their Oneness Pipe. It could never be lost or stolen, because it could be recreated by the tribe whenever necessary and have the same power."
"What a wonderful idea... a Oneness Pipe!"
Spider Woman smiles and places the little Pipe next to the Silver Writing Pen. She then chooses the next item in the Lakota line.
It is hard for me to see, so I ask, "What is it?"
She holds it out for me to get a better look. "It is a Spider."
"Is it alive?"
"No, it is just a fetish, a symbol of Spider. This is to remind the Lakota Sioux of me." She giggles a little. "It is rather embarrassing for me to do this but I do have a lot to offer the Sioux peoples. Over the years many have forgotten to call on me and ask for my advice. That is their choice, of course, but I would like to offer my services if they are interested. I have been around a long time and gathered a little wisdom in the process."
We both smile as she places the large, black Spider next to the Pipe.
She picks up one of the remaining three in the Lakota line, looks at it then gives me another smile. Spider Woman holds it up for me to see. "This is a symbol of the largeness of life. It is a Measuring Cup."
"That seems a rather unusual choice of symbols."
"To some," she replies. "But not to me. These are items to help me remember what is to be said."
She sticks her right finger into the Cup's bowl and stirs the air within. When she withdraws her finger it is covered with honey. She licks the nectar from her finger and broadly grins.
"This Cup can hold anything or at least pieces or bits of anything. After all, one cell or one atom can hold all information and become many things. This symbol is to remind the Lakota of the limitlessness of life. Their thoughts, words and actions have been stifled for so many years that they have forgotten just how limitless life truly is. This Measuring Cup is to remind them to no longer accept limits from their own personal thoughts, their families, their villages or the world. Everyone is a powerful being and it is time to remember that."
Spider Woman places the Measuring Cup next to the Black Spider and picks up item six from the Lakota line. As I look closer it appears to be a very small Stone Tablet... rounded on the top and squared on the bottom. It seems to have symbols and, perhaps, words carved into it.
She clarifies my thoughts. "This is to remind the Lakota to keep better records of what happens to them, for much has been distorted over the years by word of mouth. These records should be a consensus of what happens to the tribe and individuals within the tribe and not just the words of one or two individuals. Again, this will give power to all of the peoples and not just to the ones who proclaim themselves leaders. Even the children could be asked to comment, for many coming onto our world now are of great loving Spirit and high consciousness."
"But what are the symbols on the tablet?"
"They are just ways that more permanent records were kept in the past. Everyone knew what the symbols meant, so the information was understood by all. It is important that records be kept in such a way that even the smallest detail will not be lost or changed. Several copies could be made and scattered, so that their truth is not lost or changed by a few. Today that would probably be by the written word rather than just symbols. If symbols were used today, it would be equally important that several copies of a complete written record of what those symbols meant was also kept, perhaps in several languages, like a Rosetta Stone."
Spider Woman places the Stone Tablet next to the Measuring Cup, then picks up the final object in the Lakota line in front of her. As I look closer I see that it is a small Stone Heart about two inches in diameter.
"Love has been lost to the Lakota." There is a sad look in her eyes as she says the words, then her tears fall. "Alcohol and drugs have left many of them open to very destructive forces and split the families and tribe apart. Entities from other dimensions and worlds take over their bodies, use them, then toss them aside when they are spent. They lie to the Lakota and create chaos everywhere. The Lakota are being destroyed from within and only love can save them."
Spider Woman sighs deeply once again, then dries her tears with the fabric of her skirt. "Love is something that each individual must find within by themselves. It is contagious though. The more people that express love, the easier it will be for others to catch the Love Bug."
She smiles at her little joke. I do too.
"That's seven," I remind her. "Anything else you'd like to say?"
She answers as she places the last object in the Lakota line to her right. "That's it for tonight. See you tomorrow."
