Peace on our true path

Peace on our true path

Story by: Jessica Bahr

Being at peace with your true path doesn’t mean you always feel peaceful or only encounter peace on your path…on the contrary. It means that you’ve made peace with and accepted what it is you’re here to do, as well as the inroads, the dirt roads, and the new roads you have to forge that get you there.

It means you say Yes to the ominous Presence that has your scent and has been tracking you down, no matter how fast you run or the places you hide. It’s the fight, it’s the dance, it’s the win, it’s the loss, and it’s the love and the hate. It’s the compassionate forgiveness and the ache for revenge. It’s the burning hot flame and the crystal cool water. It’s the heartache, the heart break and the heart swell until the flood overtakes us.

It is saying Yes to the blind spots and the bright spots. It is befriending confusion and plea bargaining with unknowns. It is ingesting what we reap in the valleys to nourish our ascent up to the peaks.

It means you get in arguments with people who don’t understand you in the midst of you trying to understand yourself. It means you don’t always get it right, and when you do, it might not be recognized for days, for weeks, for years, or never by another living soul. It means showing your true colors even if they mix into grey.

It is your private hell and your public exposé. It is your vulnerability and the impervious will to step into the ring – to tame tigers, jump through flaming hoops, walk the tight rope, and juggle life stuffs. It is letting go of the trapeze bar, to be suspended in mid air, and trusting that someone, something will catch you on the other side; no safety net below.

It is the night sweats and the sure bets. It is the loss and contribution, and the stagnant places that wait for the wind to blow, playing fiddle on the water so that the current can get us there, closer…closer to the truth. The truth of who we are.

Peace with your path means you say YES to all of this, even if you never know why this purpose, this path, this life chose you. Be under no illusions that when you make peace with your path, that peace is all you will know…but as you walk this path, it is yourself, yourself you will learn to know better.
