Truth as Awareness
“Because truth is not linear, but global, and not successive, but simultaneous, it can therefore not be expressed in words: it must be lived.” (“Agenda”, vol.1 – The Mother)
How many times in our lives have we argued with our friends about “our truth”? How many times have we felt how important our truth is, and fought for it until we exhausted all of our energy? What is truth? Is it possible to have such a thing as “my truth” and “your truth”?
We often end up losing life-long friendships because we argue about something we believe in. Is it worth losing so much energy defending something we believe is true?
Well, allow me to explain something. Nearly a century ago, P.D. Ouspensky – the main disciple of Gurdjieff, used to annoy and irritate his disciples asking them to rephrase the way they where expressing their ideas. They used to say each day “Master Ouspensky yesterday you said that…” but Ouspensky immediately would stop them and ask them to reshape the sentence (and subsequently their thoughts!): “Master Ouspensky, it is my understanding that yesterday you said that…”.
Or when they would comment on a book, saying, “Master Ouspensky, in your book you wrote that…” Ouspensky immediately would stop them and ask them to change the sentence (and their way of thinking) as follows: “Master Ouspensky, it is my understanding that you wrote in your book that…”. So it is not written in stone!
We can have ten people reading the same book and have ten different ways of understanding the book. It is normal to be this way. The educational background, belief patterns, life experience and ultimately, our emotions and feelings, change the way we see the world around us completely, the way we process a book or any information that comes to us.
As Drunvalo said, we can see the same reality, the same Universe as a completely different existence, as a completely new Universe. Basically each person on this planet can have a completely different perspective about the same thing. Isn’t that shocking? Maybe; but it is also amazing.
It is a new way of thinking. It is a new way of expressing ourselves. It is not “my truth” or “your truth”, it is “my understanding” and “your understanding” about the same thing. Isn’t that amazing?
Of course, we are asking ourselves how it is possible to have such a paradigm. It is possible because our awareness is not part of our mind – it is not logical. Our awareness functions the best when our mind stops functioning. As long as we only use the mind, we have different perspectives about the same reality. When we are fully in our awareness we have a common understanding about the truth. Then we are able to get out of the box, out of the vehicle and “see” with the eyes of the soul. This is a much more accurate view of the truth. It suddenly awakens you and breaks the reality of the mind. Then everything becomes possible. You understand that all is flowing and you don’t lose time arguing about “your truth”.
Every moment of your life becomes an opportunity to be more conscious and not to waste time in sleepiness, in tiredness. You need great courage to become aware, to be conscious because you take the risk to see, sense and feel the other side of the same reality. You take off your safety belt and you are jumping into the nothingness. You stop being an imitator and you take back your identity, your uniqueness. It is easy to follow the crowd but if you want to transform yourself and be fully awake then you need to make this change.
We have lived until now just in one way, arguing about “our truth”. Now the past is going to disappear. The old way is familiar but also depressing. Until now we were just a seed and now it is time to become a flower, to grow and see the Universe independently with our own fragrance. Until now we were metals, ordinary metals and now it is time to become silver, to become gold. It is time to let the fears go away and stop all this daily repetitive behavior.
Today. Now. Right this moment stop and say to yourself: “It is time to awake; to stop being a robot!. When you do that, suddenly the seatbelt is off and you are ready to jump. You are ready to see “your truth” in a different way. The slumber is over; you opened your eyes!
