Go down to Go up

by Norma Gentile

I challenge you. I challenge you to stand up from sitting in a chair and not push the weight of your body down into your feet. While here within the rules of physicality, we must push down in order to stand up.

So too we must relay upon those elements of the lower dimensions to support us, as well as spiritual elements from upper dimensions. In my experience, ascension comes from knowing both upper and lower dimensions as partners in this dimension.

Ascension is our ability to learn, to grow and to bring wisdom with us from this lifetime into the next. Total physical ascension is the transmutation of the physical body into pure energy. People are apt to ascend a portion of their physical mass as they approach the point of the body's death. There are numerous reports of yogis weighing virtually nothing when their body is moved after death. For the average person just a few atoms may ascend during death. Each atom reflects a portion of the soul's experience, returning home.

I know many people have wanted to 'go up in a puff of smoke' or simply 'go home'. But whatever we are here to do is how we ascend. We don't have to create a personal ascension process for our body so much as create a conscious life here within it.

The way up is to go down.

In life and living, the more we inhabit and utilize the lower chakras of our bodies, the greater the number of atoms within our body are transformed. I know it is odd to think of spiritual work as being at the first chakra, but oftentimes it is. Let me give you an example.

Several years ago I met and befriended a Breatharian. He had learned to nourish himself completely from the energies around him, and had not taken food or water as nourishment for several years.

Was he skinny and light as a feather and anorexic? No. He was large and muscular, enjoyed physical activities and spent most of his day in mediation, doing Tai Chi and Yoga. As we worked together, I found that I could sense some of what he was tapping into as energetic nourishment. It was the pure energy of Nature, from the first dimension, that he used as his source of liquid. And it was not coming through his head. It was his lower chakra system that was being used. He had transformed, or ascended, a portion of his body's energy, while still in form.

He illustrates for me one aspect of ascension. By getting more in touch with his body, he loosened himself from the rules of this dimension. He went down into the lower dimensions, and found support that has let him ascend beyond the need for food and water.

Most of us are dealing with ascension at a level that is more day-to-day. Spiritual experiences of ecstasy and wonder happen, and then life intrudes. Ascension on a day-to-day basis may be about really turning and facing what is being presented to us. Remember, our soul is the writer of our life. Although sometimes you may want to hire a new writer. or double check the script.

Last year I had the privilege of teaching at a conference of Hospice workers. Mostly, I was able to sit and hear their stories. To the extent that we in this western culture link ascension with an absence of traditional physical death, something is afoot.

We have a generation of elderly people who are dying heavily medicated. I find the nursing homes packed shoulder to shoulder with their ghosts and layers of their emotional fields that have not been able to cross over with them. Releasing them to the other side, as well as any emotional or soul fragments that have attached onto the living, was the reason I created the CD Songs of Spirit.

The larger soul on the other side waits for the soul portions on this side to return and bring the information of this lifetime. When the soul is disoriented or fragmented, the wisdoms of this lifetimes may not adequately reach the larger soul on the other side.

The hospice staff shared with me their stories of 'clean deaths'. Ones where people were able to stop intrusive medications and rest into the process of dying. Their rooms were bright, filled with a sense of breathless awe during the days around their passing. Portions of the physical bodies were transmuting. Ascension was occurring.

During the process of this type of conscious death, one in which the person knowingly is releasing the body in a loving and gracious manner, the potential exists for some of the physical matter of the body to move into the light body.

Literally, this is our modern process of Ascension. Physical matter vibrates faster and faster, eventually leaving behind this dimension, and entering into the next higher dimension. When this happens, the physical weight of the body left after death is greatly diminished from what it was one or two days previous to the process of transition.

I do believe that this transmutation of the physical form into pure energy is where we as humans are heading. And I believe it is the process that was spoken of in the New Testament, when Mary, finding Jesus standing outside of his burial tomb, was admonished not to touch him. There is a palpable vibration in the body as this is occurring. No doubt a being undergoing this process throughout the entire body, not just over a few atoms, would be highly charged, perhaps beyond what our physical bodies could handle.

But I don't see us learning to use this method to transmute our bodies into pure energy in the next 10, 20 or 30 years.

My sense is that too often we in Western Christian cultures look at this story as the ideal. Perhaps it is merely an example of one way to take conscious ascension. We also have a conscious death and ascension in the 1950's, when Yogananda, sitting in meditation, left his body. Breathing out with his soul, he left his body behind perfectly preserved and smelling of roses (a scent of the heart chakra).

Ascension is your own process of growth. Maybe it will look like one of these examples. Maybe it won't. But before you try to go up, investigate what is already here.

May you live well and fruitfully,

Norma

The sound healing came about as I sang a concert last month. In the church I saw a soul who was not yet ready to join its larger soul on the other side. The ghost hesitated, but then came and sat with me at the altar. As I sang this song, I asked that his guides work with my guide (the Hathor Atamira) to show him pictures and help him feel what it would like to be in heaven. He decided to go. He took his version of ascension. And those in the audience felt the process as well. I share a bit of it with you here.
