October 2013 - 'The Ancestors Issue'
The path that brings us from the Equinox portal to the Day of the Dead is lined with the spirits of our ancestors. They watch over us all year long, but as we get closer to the dark time they show up in full force to offer protection and shed light on the path. As the Southern Hemisphere braces for its fertility rites, we in the Northern half of the world are looking at the flip side of the creation process. Isn't it interesting, that no matter where we stand in relationship to the Sun, life, light, and fertility run hand-in-hand with death, darkness, and blight: always and in everything, this is how things flow. At this point in the evolutionary process the whole matter of life, death, and renewal is beating at the heart of everything that is happening, in us and around us. With the light of the Samhain fires about to remind us not just of our ancestors, but of the ancestral thread that connects the heart of creation to the life of every living thing, this moment in time is where we cross the line and make a conscious choice to either die, or rebirth ourselves and live again. It goes beyond metaphor: those of us who are awake know that everything is at stake. With the most powerful Cross Quarter of the year coming fast upon us, could we use this month to invoke the spirits of our ancestors, along with the Archangels, and the Masters, and offer up our prayers to the Heart of the World to help us remember who we are and what life is for? It is with this thought in mind that we welcome you to our "Ancestors Issue". By the time we meet again on All Soul's Day, may everything you find in this month's gallery of articles and media presentations open your consciousness to the possibility of a rebirth and fill you with the desire to live again.
