For Inspiration
This is an attempt to reach all the awakened, innovative people of the world who will understand what I am talking about. I would like to inspire you to bring order to the chaos we live in and create a peaceful, harmonious world where all can meet their potential to the benefit of all mankind.
We are all equally valuable as individuals, all 7 billion people here on Earth. No two of us are the same and like the cells in our bodies we make up the whole of humanity. We have to cooperate and contribute with our own respective skills in order to make the body, all of mankind – and the Earth – work as efficiently as possible.
The current state of life, where individuals only care for themselves and their advancement, often at the expense of others, can easily be compared to the way diseases work in our bodies.
We can also see it in the world around us, with all the violence, unrest, riots, wars, poverty, suffering and chaos that exist. Many people have good intentions and try to right the wrongs through punishment and making sanctions, but it doesn’t seem to work.
Others try new ways to change the old, flawed system. However, I’m afraid this is not possible anymore because the requirement for all people to live in peace and harmony with one another and to live out their potentials to the benefit of the whole is not present.
It cannot be done because in reality we are not equal although it is what the system in its most ideological democratic sense is based upon.
We accept that the “clever ones” are somehow superior and that they have the right to fool and exploit the less clever because in our world, money rules. “Money is God” and money is the basis of all decisions.
It is almost like a game of Monopoly where the aim is to get as much money as possible, and in the end the one who sits with all the money wins and then the game is over, because the losers go bankrupt and have to leave the game – they are out.
It is like that in our world. When there is no more money left to suck out of people they have to figure out how to survive on their own while being looked down upon and considered a burden to society.
At the same time the winners try their best to get the last bit of money from whoever has something left. Recently newspapers wrote that “Inequality is the biggest global threat” and the connection between the growing gap in income between rich and poor and the increasing unemployment can at any time lead to more financial crises and social and political instability, which will ultimately cause a global breakdown. The article was built upon an investigation based on the statements from 700 experts worldwide.
Additionally, the Pope explained that there will be no solution to the world’s issues before the poverty problem is resolved in a radical way by rejecting the absolute autonomy of the market and financial speculation, as well as solving the structural causes of inequality.
Lots of unrest, rebellion, riots, wars, fugitives and people who immigrate to richer countries to feed their families are everyday news to us. We have accepted it because we see it all the time, and I guess there are very few people who can imagine a change for the better if we keep going like we are right now.
While this happens “the winners” become richer. The Occupy Wall Street movement began when the Americans realised that 1% of its population owned 99% of the country’s wealth. Meanwhile, the same 1% has managed to get 95% of all income increases since 2009 while the bottom 90% are only getting poorer.
Globally the richest 85 people in the world own as much as the bottom half of the world’s population put together.
Is this what we want?
Shortly before 14 January 2014, I incidentally discovered that it was the last chance to sign a petition to press the EU to start debating basic income. It was basically what we talked a lot about in the 70’s, that all citizens receive a salary which would provide just enough for them to make a living.
Basic income would make everyone equal in a positive way. Everyone could choose whether they want to supplement their income with a job, which is what most people would probably do, or spend their lives doing something different.
People would thus have the opportunity to occasionally retire to reflect and think about who they are, and artists or other creative people would have the time to be inspired and potentially increase their income by selling their products. Everyone would have time to discover their inner values, which they could then use to enrich society.
It would be a completely different society where people would thrive and lose all the stress they have at the moment and instead focus on something different than money and consumption. All the unemployed, sick, and elderly would no longer be considered a burden to society, and would keep their dignity while being considered equals to everyone else.
In this country (Denmark) they say that more than half of us are receiving welfare benefits, which would make the economical transition easy, especially since the salaries of all the people who manage welfare benefits could be saved. Furthermore, these people could be spared of prying into other people’s personal lives to investigate if anyone cheats.
All people should get a basic income, not only here and in the EU. All of us should have this system because we are all part of the whole. Naturally it’s the ones who have lined their pockets from the financial turmoil who must pay back the ones they took it from.
When the new system has been implemented and everyone’s abilities and talents can come into play it would truly make peace on Earth possible. Then we can truly benefit from all the potential each of us possesses, because what each of us are good at is also what we enjoy doing and at the same time what the whole needs from us.
Think about all the hurt that we have seen corporations and banks do, where institutions which take care of the weakest in society have been sold off to private companies which focus on making profit for their stakeholders instead of focusing on the people they are supposed to be helping.
The banks give advice to normal, decent people who trust their judgment as they have always done, and then the banks demand such high fees that people have to leave their homes or close down their small businesses, just so the bank can please its stakeholders.
Once we change the system, are we supposed to harshly punish all who lined their pockets at the expense of others and who have made countless people suffer? I think we have to forgive them and give them a chance to show some public spirit, but if they cannot reform and repent, we can probably find an island or area for them to exploit each other until they change their ways.
It is important that we open up to a completely new line of thoughts, because it is very possible to create a good, peaceful and ideal society for all of us. The transition doesn’t need to be chaotic, because in reality it is very simple and every one of us will be able to see and feel that once we really try it. This is clear to see when we look at people’s reactions now, which has led to revolts against rulers in several places of the world.
I know there a lot of fine, innovative, creative people with their heart in the right place who would enjoy to rethink our future society – and be part of making it in a peaceful way – do it!
We will also need the help of clever, honest, responsible people with management skills out there, who do not seek power but want to build a society which is sustainable in every way and can make sure that both humankind and our dear Mother Earth can thrive together.
Many will probably say that it cannot be done, but is that really true?
We know that we cannot continue as we are doing. Just take a look at the climate conditions where extreme weather is becoming more and more common. We have ruthlessly exploited the Earth’s natural resources and severely polluted it as a result. Our wonderful, beautiful Earth really is our mother and we have treated her in a ruthless, irresponsible way and now we face the consequences.
Consider: If we really wanted to, couldn’t we start all over with the way we are living together and living with the Earth, inspired by respect, equality and responsibility? Think of it as a major orchestra. When everyone does their best and fall in and deliver at the right time then it is possible to make the most beautiful and harmonic music, but if everyone plays their own tune it becomes a cacophony.
I have suggested a basic standard of living for everyone as the foundation of a harmonious equal society, but there are so many fine people with outstanding abilities who can maybe make an even better suggestion. I have no doubts that we are able to change the way we are living together on our Earth so everyone can thrive.
After all, we are the 99 %!!!
Think about it – and you are very welcome to pass it on!
