We will be interviewing Dr. Hagelin soon upon his return from a European trip. The interview article will appear hopefully later on this month. Please check back.

On July 2, 2003, in a startling move, renowned physicist Dr. John Hagelin announced the formation of the United States Peace Government. This new organization will focus on the prevention of problems in health care, education, defense, economy, energy, agriculture, and the environment.
Including among its members 400 of the nation's top medical doctors, business leaders, and university professors, the U.S. Peace Government has already raised $100 million and built three $4-million "Peace Palaces" (in Bethesda MD, Lexington KY, and Fairfield IA). One goal of the new "government" is to have similar Peace Palaces in 100 of the largest U.S. cities "to reduce crime and violence and promote coherence and harmony across America."
The U.S. Peace Government held its inaugural session on the 4th of July. The announcement, at a Washington, D.C., press conference on July 2, marked the 227th anniversary of the Continental Congress's resolution for independence.
"Our Founders resolved to break the bonds of tyranny from Great Britain," Dr. Hagelin said. "Now, we resolve to break the bonds of tyranny from violence, terrorism, and war."
Who Is Dr. Hagelin? The Spirit of Ma'at has been reporting on Dr. Hagelin's work since shortly after 9-11 (see Transforming the Unified Field of World Consciousness, and Spiritual Awakening in the US Government?). What we as an online magazine have sought to advance through truth on the Internet, Dr. John Hagelin has been bringing to amazing fruition in the halls of government.
A Harvard-trained PhD physicist and the director of the Institute of Science, Technology, and Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management, Dr. Hagelin was the Natural Law Party's candidate for president in 2000. Although he had no hopes then of actually becoming president, this strategy allowed Dr. Hagelin to bring his thinking and proposed programs to the fore.
Four members of our staff, including Drunvalo, were present at the Prophet's Conference in December 2002, where Dr. Hagelin spoke of his plans and later came forward to announce that he would support Dennis Kucinich in the 2004 presidential race.
As we reported in our earlier articles, Dr. Hagelin's primary focus in the past has been to create governmental backing for a coalition of trained practitioners, living together and devoting themselves to the creation of world peace through daily group meditation. This idea has already been put into effect in India, and Dr. Hagelin sought, and still seeks, to make this happen in the United States.
Peace Government Aims and Functions According to Dr. Hagelin, this new "complementary" government will not usurp the responsibilities of the existing government, which is primarily concerned with crisis management. Instead, the second government will concern itself with prevention-oriented administration in the areas of health care, education, defense, economy, energy, agriculture, and the environment.
"The U.S. Peace Government is more than just a gigantic policy think-tank," Dr. Hagelin said, "because it will directly implement proven programs for the prevention of problems and the promotion of peace in cities across America.
"Moreover, the U.S. Peace Government will actually govern the country in the crucial area of national consciousness, by addressing and alleviating the acute social stress that fuels violence and conflict. By bringing the life of the people more into accord with Natural Law, the U.S. Peace Government will prevent crime, improve health, and thus elevate the destiny of the nation."
The Ways and Means The surprising support Dr. Hagelin has achieved in Washington for his ideas has always rested opon the same hard, scientific evidence that the Spirit of Ma'at has been reporting since our first issue, including the important work of Gregg Braden on "scientific prayer."
The research upon which many of Dr. Hagelin's proposed programs rest can be summarized quite simply: "Prayer works — but only when it's done correctly." That's why, when Dr. Hagelin speaks of gathering together trained meditators, his emphasis is on the word "trained."
But prayer is not the only thing that works, and we can hopefully look to the U.S. Peace Government in the future for new approaches to creating a world that works "for children and other living things." It goes without saying that the world's approach to solving its problems must change if we are to survive.
