The Aftermath Of The Return Of The Ancestors
By Phoenix Rising Star
Really, this is a recap of events prior to, during and after the return.
From a behind the scenes perspective.
When we first interviewed Adam Yellowbird in his office, it was a relatively empty place. Seven desks, most of them empty.
A few computers.
"I'm still learning how to use them. Someone donated them, and they're pretty advanced. It's taking me awhile," Adam said smiling.
A phone would ring on occasion and would be picked up elsewhere. Occasionally, someone would come in and whisper in Adam's ear about that phone call. Usually, he just nodded and said, "I'll get back to them."
In the middle of our interview, he had to leave for an hour to pick up his son at school. He invited us to stay and look through books and collections of articles from his EarthWorks and other ICA events.
We finished the casual interview two hours later, but I sensed he could have talked for several more hours. Channeled, rather; Adam is a visionary. He sees things. And he talked about all the things he was seeing for this event, The Return of the Ancestors. We knew that possibly not all of them could manifest, but if he was seeing them and feeling them, that was definitely the first step.
I was quite exhausted after that interview. The man has dynamic energy and is certainly tapped in to a divine flow of creation as well as his soul purpose of creating unity consciousness here on earth. I felt like I had been inundated with a steady stream of conscious creative data as it fell to earth through Adam. Aimed at me rather like a shower head on full blast.
That was December, 2008 and things were just getting started.
One month later, Gigi and Athyna came on board as event coordinators. Having organized Super Bowl events, Gigi was well versed in how to energize volunteers and work with crowds. Athyna, her daughter, needed a place to heal and focus her energy, having just lost a relationship and feeling devastated.
They began organizing, in all the ways that means. Press releases were steadily sent out, volunteer parties were arranged, different venues were observed for getting the word out about this historical event. All the desks were used. Four phones, seven cell phones and two fax machines were constantly in motion.
Our center in Sedona, Your HeartWalk Center, was one of the places Adam came regularly to do ceremony and talk about ROTA (The Return of the Ancestors). Due to a generous donation from benefactor Jane Reading, local water healer, and a matching donation from Your HeartWalk Center, Adam was able to speak eight times and bring different elders to talk about their focus for ROTA. Each time there were more and different people, spreading the word for support.
Let's face it; there was a ton of support needed to pull off this event.
There were seventy elders from the last meeting of The Eagle and The Condor in South America hoping to attend. Never having left their homeland before, they needed visas and plane tickets, plus transportation, food and lodging once here.
Those were just the ones that ICA thought they could support. As the event drew closer, Adam was receiving phone calls daily from different indigenous groups all over the world, saying, "We've received the call, and we're coming." As wonderful as that was, Adam was forced to tell them, "We support you energetically, but we may not be able to support you in other ways. We will find you land if you want to camp, but that may be all we can do."
Clearly this was spirit-led and growing larger and larger.
It was rumored that Adam and Carmen had an offer to pay expenses for all seventy elders. Their visas, transportation, food and lodging. All of it.
But because there were corporate ties, they turned it down.
Corporate funding means corporate control.
And they weren't having any of it.
This was Adam and Carmen's vision based on Adam's previous work with the elders. And he was working very hard to maintain the spirit of the event, and the consistency of his vision. Without violation; maintaining integrity.
The challenge of that decision meant that the event became dominated by a need for support from individuals. And individuals have less to spend than corporations.
There was criticism that ROTA was becoming exclusive due to the fact ICA was charging $125/day to experience talks, ceremonies, and events with the elders.
Unless you volunteered.
Then ICA charged $50/day to help offset expenses.
But there were perks as a volunteer. Parking was closer to the event. Access to the events was open, and that included sweats and other ceremonies with the elders. Volunteers were expected to document and participate in two hundred hours of time for this exchange.
Maybe the term volunteer should have been changed to Support Fee. Maybe it really doesn't matter.
All monies supported the elders getting here and staying here.
Many of them were staying for several weeks.
There were other challenges that presented themselves.
How do you feed so many respected elders who have different dietary habits and still honor all of them?
The answer came from Mexico. The Mayans were bringing a family to be of service from the kitchen. They knew how to do traveling kitchens. They had cooked before for many cultures, and knew their particulars. Donated live chickens as well as frozen ones could be prepared by these experienced people.
The next challenge was presenced with threats. From within the elder group and without.
Numerous, vague threats. Via email, phone, written letters, in person…. From people obviously discontented with the system, with the vision, and with the threat of change.
Proving that we are still in the third dimension, after all.
If this event could draw such negative blasts, then we're not in unity consciousness yet.
But isn't that part of the path?
Don't we have to work through the stuff that comes up in order to release it?
And isn't that one of the goals of ROTA, to release the ancestral memories and replace them with love, peace and healing? With a brighter vision of our future?
How else do we do that? If we don't have a healing method that helps, then we have to deal with stuff as it comes up. In the best way possible.
For Adam and his staff, they handled discord like they handled everything else. From the heart.
The elders were moved to a secret location. Only a handful of people knew where they were. Security was provided for everyone's protection.
One film-maker, Skip Thomas, was allowed in to document only what was allowed by the elders. No other cameras were allowed. That is, by attendees. All the elders seemed to have cameras and seemed to be using them.
The Sedona community pulled together and provided a variety of food, bedding, blankets and tents for the elders. Plus every spare bedroom in Sedona was rented by people attending ROTA.
A yahoo group was created (returnoftheancestors@yahoogroups.com) for those who weren't able to attend, and to create community with those attending and wanting to share services. This free group helped create more inclusion.
All this happened just prior to the actual events.
And what a series of events!
Beginning with Earth Day Weekend in Sedona, at the Red Rock High School, attendees first walked through a prayer arch, decorated with flowers and cedar branches. Next they were smudged and purified prior to walking into the large, open ceremonial area where the elders congregated. A variety of ceremonies and councils took place, beginning with opening prayers by different elders and indigenous groups.
"We all bleed red, even if our skins are different colors," stated more than one elder.
"I didn't think I could possibly come to this, given the expense of traveling, and the emotional turmoil for my family, but I knew I had an important piece of the puzzle, an important piece of unity consciousness to contribute. I came anyway," said one Pueblo elder.
Black helicopters flew overhead from time to time.
The healing had already begun, just with intention by the different groups attending ROTA.
There were sixty-two Spaniards who had come a month earlier to help prepare the group for the elders. What a healing gift that is, considering the Spaniards devastated most of the cultures in Central and South America in the past!
The Japanese elders from Okinawa came to the country that had caused them so much devastation. Their moving story about what it was like to live in their country during and after the bomb created many tears.
Every elder who spoke, every wisdom keeper who offered up prayers, sent the message that WE ARE ALL ONE. If you destroy one of us, you destroy all of us. If governments and corporations limit the old ways of working with plants and the land, we all suffer. It is only in our unification that we survive, that we have the power to change the world. And we ask that all here spread that message, spread that word to all that will listen.
At the same time we were hearing these inspirational messages, we were reminded we aren't in unity consciousness yet.
Some volunteers complained about having to pay to volunteer.
Some female attendees complained they were asked to wear long skirts.
Others complained that the cost of the event created exclusion.
So what?
It isn't about us. In the 3-D.
It's about all of us. In the 4-D.
Not us personally.
Us globally.
This is Adam and Carmen's vision.
This is not a circus.
This is not a Superbowl.
This is the elders, changing the world, one prayer at a time.
If you could feel their warmth, see their faces, hear the passion in their voices as they prayed and spoke, you would know what unconditional love really is.
They're here making it happen. Making a better vision for the planet.
By example. By their presence.
As we shift from the 3-d into 4-d, we are developing new and better ways of demonstrating unity consciousness, or the movement into it.
We're not there yet physically.
But we are there energetically.
How do I know that?
The moment we attended the opening day ceremonies, we felt a wave of loving energy, support, and protection surrounding the ceremony. The energy was definitely stronger and farther reaching at the end of the day. If we can feel that after only one day, who knows what the world will feel after ten days of caravanning through Northern Arizona?
What can you do to continue the shift and healing begun by this world event?
Have the Intention for releasing that which doesn't serve us within ourselves and replacing it with higher consciousness and love
Continued Prayer for envisioning the world as a place of peace, harmony, love and connection to All That Is
Ceremonies to embrace unity consciousness
Distant healing to all our relations, as we are all one
Please don't allow petty grievances to distance you.
Please allow the prayers, intentions, ceremonies, and visions of the elders, wisdom-keepers, ancient ones, and our youth to fulfill the prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor: "When the Eagle once again flies with the Condor, a lasting peace will reign in the Americas and will spread throughout the world to unite humanity."
Let it begin with us. Immediately.
In joy and unity consciousness,
