In pagan Ireland, the Beltane fires could not be lit until the High King had ignited the pyre on Tara Hill. Right up until Saint Patrick usurped him, that custom was observed to honor the marriage of the Great Father and the Great Mother, who on the eve of May first were said to come together in an embrace that filled the world with life. For the Old Ones, the Beltane celebrations were all about fire, and fertility, and the creation process. If those rituals have been handed down to us in many different forms, no matter what tradition we come from, the month of May marks a time when life is made whole in the heat of the cosmic fire. For the last eight weeks a host of planets in Aries has burned out everything but what is pure and essential in us. Now that the same planets have entered the sign Taurus, the power of spirit is ready to be grounded into the Earth, and into everything we do. This is where the rubber meets the road – this is where everything becomes a perfect reflection of who we are. And the only question we need to be asking ourselves is: how much of who we are is ready to take on the world? As we hit the ground running, with everything at stake, are any of us whole and complete enough within ourselves to make a difference? Welcome to our Beltane edition. May what you find in this month’s issue be just what is needed to awaken the part of your Soul that listens to your heart and knows that the time has come for us to enter that space and let the power of love light up the world from the inside out.
