Over the course of 25 years, acclaimed photographer and anthropologist, Martin Gray, traveled to 120 countries on a photographic Vision Quest to sacred sites all over the world. 'Sacred Earth — Places of Peace And Power' is a monumental book that bears beautiful testimony to his life's work, and to his deep connection to Spirit. Created with two cameras and up to ten lenses, 100's of full color plates capture the essence of these great pilgrimage shrines and rank Martin Gray as one of the best photographers on the planet.

Prior to taking each picture Martin offered up a prayer to the Spirit of the place asking them to, 'fill my photographs with such feeling and power that people may one day look upon them and be magically transported to these places'. It is more than evident that those prayers were answered because every turn of the page stirs the Soul right down to the core. Martin says, 'I personally consider these photographs to be telescopes through which you may peer across time and space into enchanted domains of sublime beauty' — and that's exactly what they are.

It may interest you to know that Martin almost died pursuing his Vision. On May 18th, 2003, while scrambling about a mile north west of Arizona's Lloyd Butte, he slid of the rocks and fell, in a straight drop, onto a ledge 70 feet below. With fifty-five broken bones, 27 skull fractures, and 6 front teeth gone, he left his body and went to the light, only to be told by a host of angelic beings that it wasn't his time to go. Following a golden cord that led him back to the physical realm, he heard the message, 'The love of your friends around the world, and the work that you came here to do that you have yet to finish, holds you to the Earthly plane'. A prolonged stay in the hospital, and months of arduous physical therapy led to what can only be considered a miraculous recovery.

It is our good fortune that Martin Gray lived through what he refers to as an 'incident' and remained here to realize his Vision — because 'Sacred Earth — Places Of Peace And Power' is not only a photographic masterpiece, it is a fine example of one man's devotion to his Sacred Work.
