More Ancestor Recollections
From John Nakagawa
We are still hearing from people who had the good fortune to be at the Ancestor's Gathering. These links were sent to us by John Nakagawa. His note said, "...Here's a link to 9 videos taken the morning of Saturday Apr 25, 2009. This was the 2nd day at the Navajo (the day the Hopi meeting was canceled) ... The Hopi and the Peruvians met and did the Eagle Condor dance and Don Alejandro and Grandfather Martin did meet. I think we were shopping at the market when this was happening!!! ..." For an inside look at an event that was 13, 000 years in the making follow this link:

The Incas traveled from Peru to come to the Gathering of Ancestors and share the Condor Dance. The feathers from the Condor wings are 5 generations old. This was the last time they will be used in the dance as their mission has been fulfilled. They have come to North American and met their "cousins". This was a very moving day on Hopi/Navajo Land. Everyone felt the emotion and how special the moment was.
The wind was blowing the sand around all day. We were all covered up to try and keep the sand out of our eyes and mouth. Even though the conditions were harsh, it was a beautiful day.

The Sayaka Cultural Group, descendants from the Sayaka Inka village, brought the Condor Dance to unify with the Eagle in the North. They traveled from the highest lake in the world, (sacred Lake Titicaca in Puno,Peru) to come to The Gathering of Ancestors and share their sacred dance and music. This fulfilled a 500 year old prophecy handed down by their ancestors that the time would come when the Eagle and Condor would reunite. The mission of these Condor wings, which are 5 generations old, was finally accomplished. This was the last time they will be used in the Condor dance. They would be retired to the River of The Condor upon returning to Peru.
