Kid's Pictures

From Sofia Escobar

A gallery of pictures drawn by a group of young people who are lucky enough to be Sofia Escobar Uribe's students

Sofia Escobar Uribe teaches school children in Cajica, Colombia. Her students range from Kindergarten level to the second and third grade. Sofia was kind enough to send us an incredible gallery of kids' artwork that will absolutely blow you away. These drawings were created after the children did a meditation exercise that brought their inner world into focus. A thousand words could not describe what these young people were able to capture. Those of you who understand the beauty of the Heart will be moved by what you see here.

Sofia Escobar Uribe is a Flower of Life graduate who teaches English to Kindergarten and 2nd grade students at the Newman School in Cajica, Colombia. She studied art at the National University in Bogotá and uses her artistic background to help her students learn how to read a write the English language. One day Sofia decided to do some breathing exercises with her kids. With soft, fairy music playing on the CD player, she asked the children to close their eyes and go into their Hearts and pay close attention to the imagery and emotions that came up in the process. After they opened their eyes, Sofia asked the children to draw what they saw in their inner vision and write a little bit about their experience.

The pictures you are about to see came out of that experiment. As adults, familiar with Drunvalo's Heart Work, most of you are aware of how difficult it is for the grown-up mind to surrender to the world of imagery that lives inside each and every one of us. These drawings will not only blow your mind, they will remind you that the wisdom of the Heart can only be touched if we enter that space with the eyes of a child.

About Sofia Escobar Uribe

Sofia Escobar is a pre-school teacher in a bilingual school in Bogotá, Colombia, South America. Although she is a ceramist and an art teacher by training, she has dedicated most of her life to use her art knowledge to learn and develop new techniques to teach young children a variety of subjects besides art. She teaches English as a second language, science, and art to young children.

After many years of participating of specialized courses on teaching and training seminars, Mrs. Escobar discovered in 1998 the meaning and joy of techniques such as Reiki, Tai-Chi, and yoga and decided to engage more fully with some of them. Her own research and her participation on training sessions and courses on Flower of Life, enabled her to apply the benefits of yoga relaxation to the learning process of young minds. She has been applying this since 2001 at the school she teaches in northern Bogotá.

Mrs. Escobar is a mother of three colleague age children and resides in Bogotá with her husband. She is the third child of a family of eight siblings and enjoys reading, making jewelry, sculpting, and drawing.
