"Your spirit has all the answers for all the questions you might ask."
—Renate Moore

Diane: How long have you been aware of your psychic abilities?

Renate: When I was a child I could see and talk to Spirit. I would wake up and my Spirit Guide would be there. I would make tea for him with my tea set and we'd sit and talk. If an adult came in they would question what I was doing, and when I told them who I was talking to, they would tell me it was my "imaginary friend." Eventually, because I was getting feedback that what I was experiencing wasn't real, I shut it down.

After I got a little older, I realized that spirit contact was real, and then my experiences were much easier to deal with.

Diane: How did having interactions with the unseen worlds affect your everyday life? Did you have information others didn't have?

Renate: One of the best things happened when I was eight years old. I remember angelic presences came into my bedroom and stood beside me. Their feet didn't touch the floor, and they had incredible light coming out of their faces. Their wings were very well developed. As I was lying in bed watching this, I wasn't afraid. I had a warm and very natural feeling. They told me that my life would be one of service, and that I would not have children. They told me this early on so I could deal with it.

That relationship with Spirit as an eight-year-old was an unbelievable support for my growth and my path.

Diane: What about on a day-to-day basis? Were they always with you?

Renate: I'm sure they were because of what I know now — but after I shut down, I only had a few visits that I recall until much later in life.

Diane: What about before you shut down?

Renate: Oh, yes. They were with me all day long. They would play with me and help me. Before I shut down, Spirit was with me all the time.

Diane: Do you feel that Spirit is with every child?

Renate: I definitely do. I feel that we have a spirit or angelic presence with us at all times. And children always have more than one.

There is a part of a child's energy body called the Spiritual Astral Plane that is in constant contact with their guides and angelic presences, whether they are consciously aware of it or not.

Diane: Let's talk about the gift of psychic awareness. Do you feel that we are all born with the same gifts?

Renate: I believe that all of us are born with the ability to communicate with Spirit through clairvoyance, which is to "see," clairaudience, which is to "hear," and clairsentience, which is to "feel."

I don't believe we're born with the same levels of awareness. I think the exact level of perception comes from past-life experiences and the genetic tribe into which we were born. At the same time, we all have the ability to communicate with Spirit. It depends on how it is nurtured.

The philosopher Descartes[1] talked about this when he said that everyone is born with a tabula rasa or clean slate.

When we are born with the abilities to communicate with Spirit and yet we come into a genetic tribe that won't allow this, we are either going to die, or we're going to stop it so we can survive. However, if we are born into a genetic tribe that encourages and delights in it, we're going to develop rapidly, because our environment is supporting our ability to be who we really are — a spirit in human form.

Diane: So we have all the same gifts?

Renate: Yes, and we can develop at any point. There's never a time that we can't.

Everything I've read, in addition to my personal experience, says that those who have a near-death experience see Spirit. So I believe that during the change we call death, we all see this, and it is what helps us make the transition.

So if we have connection with Spirit at the end of our life, and we are with Spirit at the beginning of life, then it stands to reason that we can develop the ability to consciously connect throughout our life.

Diane: I know that as well as providing spiritual counseling for your clients you also teach psychic development classes here in South Florida. What do you ask your students to do first?

Renate: The first step I ask is for them to get very clear on why they want to develop their abilities. In other words, what are their intentions?

Then I teach them to connect with their own inner guidance and spirit through meditation and spiritual practice. As they learn to connect with their Higher Self, it becomes much easier to connect with other spiritual beings who may be available to assist.

For instance, if you called me but I didn't have a phone, our communication wouldn't be very effective. I'd be screaming through the airwaves to try to send you the answers to your questions. However, if I have a phone and you have a phone then communication will be easy and clear.

Diane: What I'm hearing you say is that you're actually sensitizing the mechanism of the human body to be able to connect to other states of consciousness. You train yourself to become a conduit for Spirit?

Renate: Yes. Your spirit has all the answers for all the questions you might ask — but most people don't depend on themselves for their answers. They usually want validation from outside themselves. As you get in touch with your spirit and use it to connect with your guides, angelic presences, and master teachers, you are essentially bringing in affirmations for the answers you've already received from your Higher Self.

Eventually, you learn to trust your own answers while gaining the bigger picture by connecting with Ascended Masters and others who may have more knowledge and experience than you do.

Diane: Are there practical kinds of exercises that people can do to hone their intuitive skills?

Renate: Besides meditation, where you get relaxed, ask your guide a question, and wait for an answer, you can also work with the master gland of the body, the pineal.

There are exercises for directing light into the chakras or energy centers of the body, and many different practices for understanding how the aura works.

You also want to look for blocks to communication which may exist energetically in the auric field. There are many exercises to direct energy and bring in Light to open up the field so you can easily connect with Spirit, as well as to share love, peace, and inner joy.

Connection with Spirit can be as enjoyable as when you sit and talk with a friend.

One of the most satisfying things I do personally is to connect with my guides and people in my life that have made their transition in order just to share some time with them. When my mother comes in, I like to sit and feel her energy, thank her for coming, and ask her to share anything she likes. I share time with her in this altered space. The energy, love, and peace of mind I get from this is just incredible.

Sometimes we really miss the people that have passed over, and getting a chance to spend time with them helps us to get on with our own process. Spirit communication is just incredible.

Diane: The Harry Potter books and now the movie have brought to the forefront of America a fascination in magic. Why do you feel people are so fascinated with the Harry Potter phenomenon?

Renate: I think it comes from the hope that we can do something to make things change. Many people feel that no matter what they do, nothing ever changes. When they watch Harry Potter and his friends believing in themselves and succeeding, it reinforces the idea that every single one of us is a special human being. All people, every single person, need to know they have something special about them and that they have the ability, if their intention is good, to make major changes.

I feel the Harry Potter stories allow us to feel we have the power to make a difference — that we can change bad to good, or evil to right — and that we can enjoy ourselves for who we truly are.

The story of good reigning over evil is one that continually repeats itself throughout history, and I think a great percentage of the population of the planet just wants to live in peace and have a good life.

Diane: If someone wants to begin developing their psychic abilities, what would be a couple of steps for beginning this process?

Renate: One of the major issues that keep most people from their abilities is emotional confusion. If your emotional body is upset, it takes a lot of energy to keep those patterns in place. I feel emotional imbalance is a plague, and includes when you feel you are not getting your needs met — when you're not feeling heard, or when no one will connect with you emotionally.

In Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs,[2] he says that if you don't have your physical, mental, and emotional needs met, you can't stay on the spiritual level very long. I feel that's extremely true.

I believe that if you're homeless or emotionally upset, or if you're physically in turmoil about your health, it might be very hard to connect with Spirit. I'm not saying that everything has to be perfect. I'm saying that there has to be some balance. Then people can go very quickly to the spiritual astral body and have all kinds of connections. But if there is major imbalance, it's more difficult to stay on the spiritual astral plane.

Diane: So clearing the electrical field of blocks and coming into emotional balance seems to be very important.

Renate: Right. As we do, we begin to feel stronger within ourselves and gain more self esteem.

Diane: What about watching our diet and eating healthy foods? Would this be important?

Renate: That would certainly accentuate awareness. When the body is healthy, electromagnetic energy moves very quickly through it.

Most important of all, though, I feel, is for those considering this type of development to really get clear on their intention. Creating a space on the planet for this type of communication is important, so we can allow higher vibrations to come in and to treat each other well and recognize the oneness between us all.

We come from the same Source. We are just in different packages.

Diane: Thank you Renate.

Footnotes:

  1. René Descartes (1596-1650) was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist. He was called a dualist because he claimed that the world consists of two basic substances: matter and spirit. Matter is the physical universe, of which our bodies are a part. The human mind, or spirit, interacts with the body but can, in principle, exist without it. Descartes introduced the famous Latin phrase cogito ergo sum, which means, "I think, therefore I am."
  2. Abraham Maslow (1908-1970) was the American psychologist whom many people consider to be the founder of humanistic psychology. The humanistic approach says that individuals are controlled by their own values and choices and not by the environment or by unconscious drives. Maslow identified levels of human needs which must be satisfied before the next level can be fulfilled. The most basic needs are bodily drives, such as hunger and thirst. Succeeding levels include needs for safety and love. The highest need is for the fulfillment of one's unique potential, which Maslow called self-actualization.
