Spirit of Ma'at: "Living Off the Grid" Vol 2 April 2002 Are You Ready for This? by Ron LaPlace
For many of you reading this, the articles in the last two issues of the Spirit of Ma'at may have been your first foray into the incredible subject of free energy. For some, these articles may have been the beginning of a search for understanding. For others those of a more active and practical bent this new knowledge may have marked the beginning of a search for technology. Believing in free energy was never a huge leap of faith for me. I had already begun the study of metaphysics. When you recognize that energy is everything and everything is energy, the concept of free energy becomes kind of a "Why not?" issue. My own journey on this path began over thirty years ago, when a teacher mentioned the name of Nikola Tesla. For some reason, this name struck an immediate chord in me, and I had to find out more. This led to a greater understanding of the many gifts that Nikola Tesla offered to the world. A Different Leap of Faith There was a part of the February/March free-energy discussion, however, that took on a different face entirely. Even thirty years ago, I had no problem understanding and accepting the concept of overunity, but the concept of a "secret government" and everything that these incredible words represent the idea that others were attempting to keep this technology from us was difficult for me to understand. The articles in previous issues have already supplied a sufficient description of the unbelievable lengths that the few have taken to keep the many from realizing their personal right to freedom. When I first started learning about these things, I became very angry because what I was hearing scared me. The root of anger is fear. Things remained this way for a long time until my own personal leap of faith occurred. That leap of faith arrived when I realized that we each and every one of us are in charge of our own destiny. If I am living in a certain condition today, it is because I have allowed these conditions to be part of my life. The world today harbors a condition where the real power and control is in the hands of just a few. I used to think that this was someone else's fault. I used to think that "they" had done this terrible injustice to me. Now I understand that this is my responsibility alone. No one can take my power away from me unless I give it to them. That, believe it or not, is really the key to free energy. We have willingly given our power away and allowed a few people to control every aspect of our lives. It is time for us to take back that responsibility. When we do, we are taking responsibility for our own power, and that includes electrical and automotive power. In taking responsibility for our own lives, we prepare ourselves on the inside for what we are asking for on the outside. Almost-Free Energy: Search for Technology Okay. So you've read all of the wonderful articles. Now, how many of you are ready to head down to the local building supply store and look in the "free energy" section for just the right device to run your own home? The fact is, of course, that you can't do that. There still is no free-energy device commercially available in an "off-the-shelf" fashion that you or I can purchase and plug into. Not today. But now, at least, you are aware of some of the real reasons for this. And now there is at least one working plan, with drawings, for an actual device, a system freely distributed so that those with the right abilities and resources may bring these things to the market. What to do in the meantime? "In the meantime," in my case, has been going on for more than thirty years. I'm really glad that I did find something I could buy off-the-shelf almost twenty-five years ago and begin using to power my own home. It is called "solar power," and I liked the technology so much that I started a business where I could help other people become energy independent. When I began, solar power was almost as exotic a term as free energy. Now, the words and the technology itself are commonplace. But free energy both the words and the technology are not only uncommon, they are almost invisible. Becoming Your Own Power Company Until overunity or free-energy devices become commercially accessible, we must use what is currently available. For most people, this will mean remaining connected to the local utility or power company, and paying the going rate for their power. But for a growing number of people, using currently available technology will involve one or more of a growing list of alternatives, including solar, wind, micro-hydro, thermo-electric, steam, and others. When you select any one or more items from this second category, you have made the choice to become your own power company. You have also taken a step in becoming responsible for at least this part of your life. Responsibility: It's a Big Word I've been helping people with independent and alternative energy systems for a long time, and I find this one word "responsibility" represents the biggest stumbling block to living successfully with any system that has a limited supply of energy. I realize that in places like California, where rolling brown-outs and black-outs have occurred, other factors are also at play. But essentially, when you connect to the utility company, the only thing that limits how much power you consume is how much money you are willing to spend on a monthly basis. But when you become your own power company, unless you have an unlimited budget for the capital cost of the original system, an unlimited resource like a river, or continuous wind, you will likely be designing for a limited amount of energy production. That means you also have a limited amount of energy to use. You therefore need to become aware of how you use energy. In fact, you need to become a working part of the energy system. That's how you take responsibility you become conscious of the balance of energy in and energy out. If you choose to pay little attention to this balance, you will soon become and dissatisfied with your alternative-energy system. This is a challenge for many people. They have never had to consider how they used energy before. It has always just been there whenever they needed it. It requires a commitment to take responsibility like this. The Next Step So after you have decided to take responsibility and to become an active participant in your power system, then what? The next step is to become very familiar with how you use energy. There's another big word coming up here and it also starts with "R" for Relationship: to connect, to bond, to link, to affiliate with. To be in relationship with anything, you must be willing to share a part of yourself with whatever you are connecting with. That's how you connect to a flower, or your pet, or your mate, or anything else in life. There is both a giving and a receiving in this process. When it comes to the energy that runs their homes and appliances, most people are in relationship to the utility or power company. The give-and-take process of this relationship is quite simple: You give money, and you take energy. When you become your own power company, you are creating a system that is, at least in part, separate and distinct from the collective system of the power company. This requires a new commitment to the give-and-take process. You still take power. But what is required from you in the "give" department is not money, it is your attention. You need to become conscious of the process of give and take, or you will very likely end up with an imbalance. This imbalance between giving and taking is where many relationships begin to have problems and your relationship to energy is no exception. If you are willing to take responsibility for your energy system and be a partner in relationship to it, you can enjoy a very happy and healthy lifestyle that has a low impact on another important item that we need to be in relationship with: the Earth. Living with Almost-Free Energy So now you're ready to take the plunge and actually begin shopping for an alternative energy system that will suit your needs. Fortunately for you, if you're looking for help, there is now a great deal of information available on the Internet, and a large number of companies that can support you in your quest. A simple search under "solar power" or "wind power" will land you thousands of responses and places to visit. Choosing the right method of power generation for your situation is largely a factor of geography and weather patterns for your part of the world. The economies for the capital costs of components in the system also will likely be a factor in your decisions. For example, solar power may have a higher initial capital cost than wind energy, but it also has a much higher reliability factor and lower maintenance requirement. There are many trade-offs to consider in selecting the right system for your needs. I do encourage you to consult professionals who have considerable experience in system design, and to educate yourself in at least the basics of electricity. In most cases, being conscious of your relationship with your system leads to the practice of energy conservation. You look for and purchase the appliances and components that offer the highest efficiencies. You design new homes or changes to older homes so that they take advantage of natural lighting and heating methods. You turn off the lights when you leave a room. You do a thousand little things a little bit differently, and it all adds up to a big difference. The difference is felt in many ways. Changing any one aspect of our lives opens a door for change in other aspects. Becoming conscious of this one part of your life starts a process for change in other parts of your life. You may find that this same process can be used in ways that you never would have imagined. In the long run, it's not about power and it's not about money, it's about the process. The Choice Is Ours We still have choices. More and more, however, certain kinds of choices are disappearing. For example, we can't continue with the old way of harmful energy production and thoughtless consumption. Can we become conscious of our own power and our own right to govern our lives? When we do, we will have changed ourselves and made the world a little more ready for free energy and all the other technologies that will be available to heal Mother. They will appear as if by magic. And we will be the magicians. |
