Indigenous Roots in Spain
By Mayte Abad Morente
In June of 2007 the Mamas (the Sacred Elders) of the indigenous Kogi who live in the northern mountains of Colombia came to Spain. I was there with them in the city of Alicante, and at one point the Mamas asked if there was any ancestor or elder who could take care of the sacred gate that they had opened to make the "pagamentos" (pagamentos: offerings, requests and gifts, what we give to Mother Earth) to Mother Earth. There were no ancestors there.
Montse Tello, a Flower of Life facilitator was also present. We talked about this theme and realized that are no ancestors or elders in Spain. Nor are there ancestors or indigenous elders in Europe that we know of. It was weird. Why don?t we have any ancestors here?
Reviewing our history, the Spanish, French, English, Portuguese and most other European cultures have dedicated their governments to "conquer" the world, which included killing aboriginal people and other beings.
One could say that the history of these wars began in western cultures with Rome. I don't know for sure. Certainly here in Spain, where I live, there have been too many wars. In my own province of Soria, just north of Madrid, whole armies have died; hundreds of thousands of people have torn each other apart. Celts against Iberians, Romans vs. Celts and Iberians, Catholics vs. Muslims and Jews, Christians vs. Christians, and less than a century ago our own Civil War... This blessed land is flooded by blood.
Ever since I was a child I have heard about the exploits of the people who have lived here in Soria. One tale in particular is meant to illustrate their valor. As I have been repeatedly told, more than a thousand residents of the Celtic village of Numancia, here in Soria, chose to kill themselves by burning in fire (women, children, elders) before surrendering to the Romans who were besieging them.
There are so many things I don?t understand yet, but I can feel. During a session with Norma Gentile this past February, we were talking about the Cathedrals built on energy vortices around Europe. The energies trapped within these vortices need to be released by a human, because human beings have caused them to close or distort by building on them.
We have no ancestors. We have lost our ability to communicate with Mother Earth (and with Father Sky, and with God inside ourselves). We haven?t known how take care of our Mother Earth and we have caused too much damage. I am the oldest of five children and I always missed having an elder brother or sister who can give me advice. Ever since I was young I have noticed an elder brother or sister was lacking in my world. Now this loss, this yearning, has even more sense.
During the trip to New Zealand (Aotearoa) with a group led by Drunvalo, I felt myself at home for the very first time after being taken in by the Maori people, and by the Waitaha,. I felt protected and many things now make sense to me. When you are in contact with the Mamas or with the Maori people, or with indigenous people you can feel their love in your heart.
I have always been looking for my spiritual path. When I was a child I felt like a stranger with people, and I still feel that way sometimes. But since I did the Flower of Life workshop amd learned the Mer-Ka-Ba meditation, new paths and new people have presented themselves in my life. I feel I am much more than a simple human being, and I have the chance to put in my own two cents towards helping Mother Earth. Norma Gentile taught me how to release the vortex of the Cathedral in my village, and with the support of Nature Spirits, Archangel Michael and other Light Beings, I did my work.
I think we need to enter in our sacred space in the heart. Living there we co-create with Spirit, creating Unity. But we need to listen now more than ever to our elders. Now it is important that they show us the path. And that they share with us their wisdom.
It is time for us to help them. They have held a great responsibility for so long. The little brothers and sisters, whom we are, are growing up, and we can offer our support. There still is a long way to go, but we can walk all together, or dance, or sing. Everything is possible. It is important that we keep on healing ourselves, not only our diseases or emotional problems, but also our inherited patterns from our ancestors (parents, grandparents, etc.). The more we heal ourselves, the more our beloved planet is healthy.
